DREAM 1. ARTS AND APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME INSPIRED BY DREAMS (foundation) works with children who face the disadvantage of limited exposure to the creative arts. We believe art is not only a great source of healing but also of enabling the children to find the latent artist within. We engage with renowned artistes who volunteer to open up for our children new vistas in the creative and performing arts –dance, music, pottery, theatre, sculpting, photography, puppetry, baking, cooking and more, so that they may acquire or hone a skill. Taking on an apprentice, the artist, too, gets to place his or her art in a different context. Such interaction has tremendous possibility of developing a skill in a child which may later translate into a vocation. Over the years, Youthreach has reached out to over 1000 children through its different programmes.
The programme AIMS primarily to:
• Engage highly creative people from civil society to apprentice children in art
• Expose children to a creative skill
• Provide appreciation of art and culture to the children
• Expose the artist to a different world
• Enhance the probability of employment and sale
- DREAM 2. Education
If you give someone food, it will only last a day. If you give someone alms, it may last a month. But if you give someone education, it will last a lifetime. Education is the enabling right to bring about social, economic and political inclusion of those ‘excluded’ from the mainstream of society. Social inclusion is important for the less privileged and education opens doors to it.
In order to bring about change at the core, there is basic need for providing:
· Awareness on current issues.
· Vocational training.
· Child/Adult literacy.
If the women and child of the family are educated and aware then the entire family becomes aware.
· Alliance with NGO's serving through education.
· Alliance with Corporates and Individuals for scholarships.
· Alliance with Education institutions. - DREAM 3. ENVIRONMENT INITIATIVES
“What makes the desert beautiful,” said the little prince, “is that somewhere it hides a well.”
The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
INSPIRED BY DREAMS believes it serves as the pathfinder to such wells in each of us.
Environment is one of the key areas of our Awareness Programme. We have worked consistently on several environment initiatives to build awareness and sensitise people on related issues.
As part of our initiative to care for the environment and save trees in cities, Youthreach has undertaken several activities, such as wilderness walks, tree painting workshops, musical performances, films, and poetry readings – all of which explore the deep and delicate connection between man and nature. - DREAM 4. Health Care
Basic health care and health assurance seem to be a distant dream for most of the population. Data shows that every second child in the country suffers from malnutrition, over 1,000 people succumb to Tuberculosis everyday, and almost 60,000 children are born with HIV each year!
TKF caters to the needs of underprivileged children and women in remote rural areas and urban slums. Now you can collaborate with us to gift the less privileged with the life's basic requirement - health!
Children and women's health is one of TKF's prime concerns:
· Create awareness on personal hygiene, sanitation, disease prevention and childbirth.
· Medical camps, including minor surgical interventions.
· Cleanliness.
· Blood donation.
· Group medical and life insurance.
· Drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
· Family planning promotion - DREAM 5. SPORTS PROGRAMME
It may be fantastic to say that a disadvantaged boy can one day play like an international soccer superstar. Give him vision, opportunity and mentoring - and you are likely to watch a Raju Thapa post a winning goal in the same manner as a Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Sports Programm aims at making some of these improbable dreams possible. This initiative aims at providing opportunities for training in sports under professional coaches to children and youth who do not have access to these facilities and training. At one level, they can learn the necessary skills for sporting careers some day and at the other, sports becomes a way of self expression and fun.
DREAM 6. Women Empowerment
To work for uplifting status of the women in the society.
Encouraging women to take part in all social and behavioral activities to increase their presence outside the homes
Working towards the education of girls/women specially in rural areas by educating the village authority and the seniors about the equality of men and women
Supporting the poor families for their needs and education financially and socially
Working against the child marriages.
Working against dowry system, preventing the familly breakups after marriages as the cause of dowry
