ABOUT JOY OF GIVING WEEK
The Joy of Giving Week is India's "festival of giving"! Launched in 2009, the festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., October 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate "giving".
From auto drivers to CEOs, school children to celebrities, homemakers to opinion leaders, millions of people give their time, money, resources or skills back to society- by creating or participating in "events" of their choice. A giving event could be as simple as a family taking out the maid's children for an ice-cream party, or as large as Gift Compassion that had 10,000+ school children across India making and exchanging gifts with their peers from different socio-economic backgrounds.
Events are organised by individuals, social groups, schools, colleges, NGOs, corporates, media houses and others. 2 million+ people participated in 900+ events across 70+ cities in JGW2012, raising over Rs30crores in money and resources donated, and millions of volunteer hours.
Ownership:
No one owns the Joy of Giving Week. It is designed as a festival of giving, and like Diwali or Dussera, the plan is for it to eventually have no owners! However, in the initial formative years, to give it a sense of shape, a group of core volunteers manages the JGW campaign, defines guidelines for participation and evangelises the effort.
Why we do it:
Because it is only right to help our fellow brothers!
“The race of mankind would perish did they cease to aid each other. We cannot exist without mutual help. All therefore that need aid have a right to ask it from their fellow-men; and no one who has the power of granting can refuse it without guilt.” – Walter Scott.
This is an opportunity for you to make a difference. Invest in goodwill where your returns are going to be priceless blessings and a feeling of greatness of doing something good for the nation you are in.

DONATE YOUR OLD CLOTHES
Did you know that that just one less t-shirt in your closet could mean that a poor elderly person gets a meal, clothes and medicines for a month? Or that one less pair of jeans could provide clothes, medical care and an education to an orphan?
That's right. That's all it takes to make a difference.
Choose how you'd like to provide clothing for India's poor... Just like trees shedding their leaves for newer leaves to grow, we humans too get into this activity when we start to clean our houses and wardrobes either before Diwali or Christmas festivals in order to make place for new wardrobe or other new possessions. These dried leaves are useful as manure or as a fuel.
But what about our discarded possessions? We too must learn from nature to avoid wastage, pollution and protect our environment as best as we can !!
Our old clothes can bring a smile on the face of many needy and poor people. Instead of throwing these away donating them is a good deed and a beneficial way to help the less fortunate. You can do this individually or by getting relatives, neighbours and friends to join you in this noble cause. You just need to ensure that the clothes are clean, wearable and in good condition. If they require small repairs like a missing button or a small tear, please see if you can attend to these before giving them away.
As the saying goes “Charity begins at home.” Donating is so very rewarding for it makes someone else happy while putting a smile of satisfaction on our face as well.
We at INSPIRED BY DREAMS have taken up the initiative of making ends meet

DONATE YOUR OLD BOOKS
Increasing awareness of education is best policy to increase economy growth. You should participate in country growth no matter you are a student or business man. By donating books you can help to poor children's those need your help and one old book can be a cause of light in life of needful students. No doubt that education awareness is growing but its worst part that we have 65% non educated people.
So it's worthless to sell your books in garbage rates even its too much better idea you have got here. So your books will remain part of study not garbage
We all read books be it comics, fiction, magazines etc.Sharing books with others is a way of passing on knowledge to the younger generation. A book can be a wonderful distraction for a child in distress and get a smile on their face.
By donating and re-cycling books we are indirectly contributing to a healthy environment by reducing the garbage and avoiding landfills. So if you really love your books, and don’t want them to just become clutter, then get them organized and pass them on to a place where they will be loved and be useful once again!
